Living From The Inside Out
There are many religions that practice yoga and use the principles found within to remain calm, balanced and to live a healthy centered life. As a Christian, I find these principles consistent with scripture that teaches me to reflect, think on good things and to walk in wholeness and peace. While practicing yoga I often reflect on the words of Socrates, “Give me beauty in the inward soul; may the outward and inward man be at one.”
Many times during our yoga sessions with Jada Right, we are encouraged to find our center and engage our minds with each movement of the exercise routine. In his book Leadership From The Inside Out, Kevin Cashman states, this type of leadership “involves awakening to our inner identity, purpose and vision so that our lives thereafter are dedicated to a conscious, intentional manner of living.”
Practicing disciplines like reflection and yoga give us opportunities to connect with God and our inner being with intentionality. Living from the inside out requires that I live true to my gifts, passions and values while living a life of inner peace. Whether it’s yoga or running, a walk in the park or ride on my bike, when this fitness journey gets hard, I have to go deep inside and live my life from the inside out!
Reflection: Philippians 4:8. “Whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely and just, think on these things.”
