Celebrate Life With Me!
May is my birthday month, which can often be a mixed bag of emotions. Since May 28, 2021, I’ve managed mixed emotions around celebrating my birthday, Mother’s Day, and the anniversary of my mother’s passing. This year, life has gifted me a new level of joy in the birth of our first grandson, Johnathan Elliott Alvarado, III!!! I’m also in celebration mode, as the non-profit organization that I launched in March 2004, My Sister’s Keeper Foundation for Women, is celebrating 20 Years of coaching women through our capacity building programming, philanthropy, and community service.
We are 4 years on the other side of a global pandemic that claimed millions of lives around the globe. There is much to be concerned about as we look at the conflicts around the world, political upheaval, corruption, climate changes, depressive economies, racial and cultural and wars. Yet, as I sit here looking at my grandson who is napping under the very blanket that my mother was shrouded in as she made her transition, I am reminded that life is still worth celebrating.
As of today, May 2nd, the month of May has 30 days remaining. Therefore, I’m inviting you to join me in celebrating each remaining day. Look around you, journal, reflect, pray, open your eyes to see the beauty of life and take 30-60 seconds a day to celebrate something or somebody in your life. I’ll start. Here’s some things and people on my celebration list:
My 61st trip around the sun!
My husband
My children
My grandson
My sisters
My girlfriends
My dreams, goals, vision, and life work!
I look forward to you celebrating life with me!
