Gift Yourself on Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is filled with love and laughter. Yet, for some people it is reminder of their singleness and many experience feelings of loneliness. Couples often celebrate Valentine’s Day with a special date night, a getaway, candy, cards, flowers and gifts. While others are dreading this day and their social media timelines filled with pictures of couples who are declaring their love for one another.
Whether we are married, dating or single, Valentine’s Day offers us an opportunity to celebrate the gift of life. This year let’s take an approach to Valentine’s Day that all of us can enjoy. Take a moment to reflect on all you have accomplished since last year. Make a list and speak those things out loud to yourself. Afterward, gift yourself to celebrate your accomplishments no matter how great or small.
Here are a few really nice gifts you can give to yourself on this special day or weekend:
Set an atmosphere of prayer and meditation in your home
Light some candles or special diffuser for aromatherapy.
Take a bubble bath.
Grab your favorite journal and write down all the things for which you are grateful.
Indulge in a hearty breakfast at home or your favorite breakfast spot.
Enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner meal with a group of friends.
Create a personal retreat at a hotel in your city.
Do a pajama day.
Rest and do minimal to no work.
Send yourself a bouquet of flowers with a special love note to yourself.
Leave a voicemail to yourself and play it so you can hear yourself saying, I Love You!
Make an appointment at a spa and enjoy a day of pampering.
Make Valentine’s Cards or sticky notes and post them around your house.
Turn off your phone.
Refrain from social media and resist comparing yourself to what other people are doing on Valentine’s Day.
Make a toast to yourself with your favorite glass of wine or special drink.
Love yourself like you are loved.
Happy Valentine’s Day,
